2009 show information
The 2009 show is next month (October 17-18)……and we have a few special events to announce…..
Saturday at 1:00 PM, Jack Pawloski will present a talk entitled “The History of Mining in Connecticut.” Mr. Pawloski is the Director of the Connecticut Museum of Mining and Mineral Science in Kent and has extensive knowledge about the mineral history and occurrences of our state.
Also, two hands-on workshops held on Saturday:
2:00 PM. How to Identify Minerals. Learn how to identify minerals using their physical properties, and practice identifying common minerals.
3:00 PM, Uses of Rocks and Minerals. Learn about the common uses of rocks and minerals and compare the natural form to the finished product.
All programs are free and open to the public for no admission charge, and some information from the workshops could be applied to scouts earning their geology badges. Check the sign boards at the show for room locations for these events.
If you want to also see some great dealers, check out the main show. Saturday (10/17) 9:30-5:00 and Sunday (10/18) 10:00-4:00. Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for seniors. Kids under 12 and scouts are free.
