Saturday May 19 and Sunday May 20–Newbies and seasoned diggers - a “Herkimer Weekend” is scheduled at the two claims on Stone Arabia Road in Fonda, New York. This is a great chance to become acquainted (or re-acquainted) with the area and the techniques that yield success. Come for one day or the whole weekend. Bob and Judy Schuster will be on hand both days. The claims are owned jointly by the Bristol and Meriden clubs, so you can work on either one, regardless of which club you belong to. For directions, tools, tips, and accommodation information (including camping), click on the “Claim” link on the LMSCC web site (www.lmscc.org)

The October 29 field trip to Roxbury for garnets will be shortened due to the potential for snow in western Connecticut on Saturday. The field trip leader will be there at 9 AM, in case other hardy souls show up, but will only stay for about 1 1/2 hours (to around 10:30). If you have never collected here before, this would give you an orientation to the site, and then you could return at another time.

May 28-29–Bob and Judy Schuster will be leading a field trip to our Fonda claims. Having someone there is a great opportunity to get oriented at the claims and to learn how to look for Herkimer diamonds. You can go onto the Meriden Club website [LMSCC.org] for directions and information on motels, camping and restaurants in the area. Look under “Fonda Claim”.
