Bristol Gem and Mineral Club Library

Mission and Scope:
The mission of the Club Library is to provide the membership with quality educational
information covering aspects of the mineral and gem hobby, including collecting, geology,
mineral science, lapidary arts, and history of mineral deposits and mining in Connecticut.
It is a general collection, limited by value and storage space, to help members decide on
purchases for their own library.
Lending Policies:
a) Members in good standing may borrow up to four (4) items for two (2) months, with a
one (1) month renewal on request. Popular and/or new items may be limited to only a
one (1) month loan period with no renewal, at the discretion of the Librarian.
b) Library materials are available at meetings. The Librarian will sign out all books; the
Librarian will also sign in all books.
c) Members may request specific items by sending an email to the Club e-address at least
three (3) days prior to the next meeting.

d) If delinquent in returning an item, a member’s library privileges may be suspended, at
the discretion of the Librarian.
e) Some volumes are relatively valuable and/or irreplaceable; their distribution may be
restricted, per the Librarian’s discretion. If a member fails to return any such item, the
Librarian may petition the BGMC Board of Directors for disciplinary action beyond
suspension of borrowing privileges.
