Our program for the evening will be a talk by Hayley Henning, the Executive Director of the Tanzanite Foundation. Tanzanite is an extraordinarily beautiful gemstone variety of the mineral zoisite. It is named for Tanzania, where it was discovered, and is noted for its remarkably strong trichroism, appearing alternately sapphire blue, violet and burgundy depending on crystal orientation.
