October 2014 meeting

Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 14th at 7 PM in the dining room of the Bristol Senior Center, 240 Stafford Ave., in Bristol. We’ll begin with a short business meeting, followed by refreshments and a silent auction, and then our program.

Our program on porphyry copper deposits will be presented by Dave Korzendorfer. Porphyry copper deposits are very large, low-grade ore deposits of copper, molybdenum, gold, and other minerals, and are also the source of many fine mineral specimens available to collectors. This talk will focus on the geology and origins of these deposits, the minerals associated with them, and the techniques geologists use to find them.

Hope to see you there!
